Current Status

Saskatchewan Polytechnic experienced a cybersecurity incident in late October, 2020, which disrupted our operating systems. IT Services, external experts and vendors continue to resume services in a secure manner. This cautious, phased approach is proving successful with the majority of student services now available. There are still some exceptions and we thank you for your continued patience and understanding.

Campusupdate.ca provides information specifically related to the cybersecurity incident.

Saskpolytech.ca is available for students, prospective students and other interested parties. Some functions are not yet available. As functions are restored, they are visible and accessible.

What is Sask Polytech doing to minimize the extent of the impact?

UPDATED (Jan 18) The institute is working with external cybersecurity experts and third party suppliers and is making progress securely resuming services in order of priority.

New safety measures have been implemented for students and employees, including a system-wide reset for passwords and two-factor authentication. Sask Polyechnic requires students and employees to re-authenticate every seven days . Adaptive, next-generation antivirus and endpoint detection and response software has been installed on employee computers. Sask Polytech will continue to prioritize online security

Is my personal information secure?

UPDATED (Jan 18) Our investigation thus far has found no evidence of any personal information having been compromised. We cannot speculate about the intent of the cybersecurity incident. We may never know this.

Is my banking information secure?

Should I change my online passwords?

(Nov 6) Why is Sask Polytech doing Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)

UPDATED (Nov 27) MFA is the industry leading, IT security method for protecting organizations. It limits the access or entry points that someone could have and in turn impact our systems. This is now mandatory in our attempt to prevent any further incidents.

(Nov 13) When can I register for Continuing Education courses?

UPDATED (Jan 18) At this time, we are limited in our ability to register students in new course sections in the School of Continuing Education. We are working diligently to make this service available and will provide more details as they become available.

For those wanting to take courses through the School of Continuing Education, there will be additional course offerings where there is high demand and some courses will be offered with a later start date.

(Nov 13) I have assignments and exams in my online course. Will those be pushed back?

UPDATED (Jan 7) Your instructor will advise on any changes to assignments or exams.

(Nov 13) I need textbooks for my course, can I come to campus to pick those up?

UPDATED (Dec 9) Access to campus is extremely limited. Ancillary Services located on campus, including the print shop, bookstore and bookstore curbside pickup, library and library curbside pickup are also closed during this time. If you require information regarding course materials, please contact your program head.

(Nov 13) I would like to withdraw from my Continuing Education course and get a refund. Can I do that?

UPDATED (Jan 22) Please email the Enrolment (Registration) Services team at the campus which was offering your course (see email address below). You can express your intent to withdraw and the request will be held for processing effective the date the request was received. Refunds are now being processed. 

(Nov 13) I’ve been notified that my Continuing Education course is cancelled. When will I get a refund?

UPDATED (Jan 22) Cancellations and refunds are now being processed. No action is required on your part. If you receive notification that your course is cancelled, we ask that you do not login or attempt to attend class. Your refund will be processed automatically.

(Nov 18) Can I enroll or register for classes?

UPDATED (Jan 14) Currently, registration for Continuing Education classes is not available; however, we are registering for our full-time programs as of December 13, 2020. If you are enrolled in a full-time program, please direct all program enrolment or course registration-related questions to the campus at which you are studying. If you are wishing to register for Continuing Education or part-time courses, please check CampusUpdate.ca regularly for updated information.

Adult Education is offering select 20 and 30 level secondary courses in the evenings from February 1 – April 7, 2021. Classes run three times per week: Mon, Wed, and Thurs. Anyone wishing to proceed, please email the following prior to January 25, 2021:

UPDATED (Jan 7) The online application system for full-time programs has been restored. Applicants are welcome to begin submitting applications any time. Please visit our application webpage to access both the online and paper application.

(Nov 19) How do I obtain information about the status of my application?

UPDATED (Jan 7) At this time, our processing times are delayed. However, electronic communications via your student portal have been restored. As applications are processed, new letters will be posted to your applicant tab. Should you have questions in regards to the content of your letters, please reach out to the staff member who is managing the program. Their contact information will be at the bottom of your most recent letter.  Please note that we are experiencing a high number of inquiries and ask for your patience as you contact us.

(Nov 19) How do I pay my seat deposit and/or tuition for a program that I have been accepted into?

UPDATED (Jan 15) Online account payments have now been restored to mySaskPolytech.

Note: Due to the measures required for the COVID-19 pandemic, we are not currently able to take payments in person.

Sask Polytech accepts the following payment options:

  1. Online or in person at your bank or credit union
  2. Online with your credit card or Interac Online
  3. International payments
  4. Higher Ed Points
  5. Sponsor billing

If you require assistance, please contact Enrolment Services in your campus city.

The instructions for the online banking (bill payment option) method are as follows:

  1. Log in to your online banking service
  2. Go to "pay bills" (or your bank's equivalent)
  3. Add "Saskatchewan Polytechnic" as a payee
  4. The account number is your nine-digit student number. This 9-digit number must be entered, or the bank transfer won't go through.
(Nov 19) I would like to withdraw from a course (or program). How do I go about this?

You are welcome to email your request to withdraw from a course to your local campus email listed below. However, our ability to process the request and issue any potential refund is not available currently. (Nov 19) I submitted a Document Request for transcript or parchment. How is this processed and payment sent?

UPDATED (Jan 7) Transcripts are now being processed. Transcripts from 1995 and forward, can be requested via your MySaskpolytech student portal. These requests are now issued the next business day. If you require a form to request your transcript, please access our forms here.

At this time, we are unable to process graduation documents. Please check this section of campusupdate.ca FAQs for further updates.

(Nov 19) I need a Program Information form (PIF) signed by the school so that I can receive funding. When can this be completed?

UPDATED (Dec 23) Currently, registration into Continuing Education courses is not available. However, in preparation, a PIF can be completed and submitted to Student Loans for initial process. Please note, that final verification of enrolment cannot be completed until our systems are available and course registration can be verified. Please contact us for additional information.

(Nov 19) I was offered a seat in a program but didn't download my letter (from Applicant tab, mySaskPolytech). Can I get a copy?

UPDATED (Jan 7) Electronic communications have been restored. Please check MyLetters, through my SaskPolytech, for all existing communication as well as any new communications.

UPDATED (Dec 23) International students with a January start date are eligible to defer their application. Please make your request via the deferral form.

(Nov 19) Do you have my documents?

UPDATED (Jan 18) Enrolment Services’ processing times are delayed. All documents received by email or mail are currently being processed. Please contact us and we will respond as soon as we are able. For transcripts being sent electronically from the Saskatchewan Ministry of Education, this system is now available. Transcripts sent between end of October and January 13 have been completed. This process will now happen daily.

(Nov 19) I have tried to call offices at Sask Polytech but no one answers. What do I do?

(Dec 7) How do I get my course materials from the Bookstore?

COVID-19 protocols and the cybersecurity incident have impacted how materials must be ordered and supplied from campus bookstores. An interim service is being made available. Find out how here.

(Dec 23) How do I register for the General Mine Safety Awareness (GMSA) course?

The General Mine Safety Awareness (GMSA) course is currently being offered in a distance/home study format. You can register at saskpolytech.ca/standardized-safety-trainingYou can also take this course in person through Proactive in Regina (306-543-6108) and Northern Strands in Saskatoon (306-242-7073).

(Jan 13) I need a copy of a previous years T2202A tax form. How do I get a copy?

The ability to view previous tax forms has been restored within your mySaskPolytech student portal. The T2202 form is located within the main student portal under Enrolment Services – “Access all Enrolment Services online services” and Canadian Tax Forms. An FAQ also exists to help answer some general questions related to your education and the taxation year.
