Current Status

Saskatchewan Polytechnic experienced a cybersecurity incident in late October, 2020, which disrupted our operating systems. IT Services  continues to resume services in a secure manner. This cautious, phased approach is proving successful with the majority of student services now available. There are still some exceptions and we thank you for your continued patience and understanding.

Campusupdate.ca provides information specifically related to the cybersecurity incident.

Saskpolytech.ca is available for students, prospective students and other interested parties. Some functions are not yet available. As functions are restored, they are visible and accessible.

What is Sask Polytech doing to minimize the extent of the impact?

UPDATED (Feb 10) The institute is making progress securely resuming services in order of priority.

New safety measures have been implemented for students and employees, including a system-wide reset for passwords and two-factor authentication. Sask Polytech requires students and employees to re-authenticate every seven days. Adaptive, next-generation antivirus and endpoint detection and response software has been installed on employee computers. Sask Polytech will continue to prioritize online security.

Is my personal information secure?

(Nov 6) Why is Sask Polytech doing Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)

UPDATED (Nov 27) MFA is the industry leading, IT security method for protecting organizations. It limits the access or entry points that someone could have and in turn impact our systems. This is now mandatory in our attempt to prevent any further incidents.

(Nov 13) I would like to withdraw from my Continuing Education course and get a refund. Can I do that?

(Nov 13) I’ve been notified that my Continuing Education course is cancelled. When will I get a refund?

UPDATED (Jan 22) Cancellations and refunds are now being processed. No action is required on your part. If you receive notification that your course is cancelled, we ask that you do not login or attempt to attend class. Your refund will be processed automatically.

(Nov 19) How do I obtain information about the status of my application?

UPDATED (Feb 10) As full-time applications are processed, new letters will be posted to your applicant tab. Should you have questions in regards to the content of your letters, please reach out to the staff member who is managing the program. Their contact information will be at the bottom of your most recent letter.

Continuing Education students will receive a confirmation of enrolment letter by email within one to two days of registering.

(Nov 19) How do I pay my seat deposit and/or tuition for a program that I have been accepted into?

UPDATED (Jan 15) Online account payments have now been restored to mySaskPolytech.

Note: Due to the measures required for the COVID-19 pandemic, we are not currently able to take payments in person.

Sask Polytech accepts the following payment options:

  1. Online or in person at your bank or credit union
  2. Online with your credit card or Interac Online
  3. International payments
  4. Higher Ed Points
  5. Sponsor billing

The instructions for the online banking (bill payment option) method are as follows:

  1. Log in to your online banking service
  2. Go to "pay bills" (or your bank's equivalent)
  3. Add "Saskatchewan Polytechnic" as a payee
  4. The account number is your nine-digit student number. This 9-digit number must be entered, or the bank transfer won't go through.
(Nov 19) I would like to withdraw from a course (or program). How do I go about this?

(Nov 19) I submitted a Document Request for transcript or parchment. How is this processed and payment sent?

UPDATED (Jan 7) Transcripts are now being processed. Transcripts from 1995 and forward, can be requested via your MySaskpolytech student portal. These requests are now issued the next business day. If you require a form to request your transcript, please access our forms here.

(Nov 19) Do you have my documents?

UPDATED (Jan 18) Enrolment Services’ processing times are delayed. All documents received by email or mail are currently being processed. Please contact us and we will respond as soon as we are able. For transcripts being sent electronically from the Saskatchewan Ministry of Education, this system is now available. Transcripts sent between end of October and January 13 have been completed. This process will now happen daily.

(Dec 23) How do I register for the General Mine Safety Awareness (GMSA) course?

UPDATED (Feb 11) The General Mine Safety Awareness (GMSA) course is currently being offered in a distance/home study format. (Jan 13) I need a copy of a previous years T2202A tax form. How do I get a copy?

The ability to view previous tax forms has been restored within your mySaskPolytech student portal. The T2202 form is located within the main student portal under Enrolment Services – “Access all Enrolment Services online services” and Canadian Tax Forms. An FAQ also exists to help answer some general questions related to your education and the taxation year.

(Feb 4) The CE course I want to take isn’t listed in the course catalogue. Do you offer this course?

The course may not be running due to COVID-19 restrictions or instructor availability. Please keep watching the course catalogue for new courses being added in the next few months. If you need more information, email ConEd@saskpolytech.ca who can assist in answering your question.

(Feb 4) What if I don’t get into the CE course? Will you be offering more courses?

We are monitoring this and will be offering more courses where there is high demand. This information will be shared on saskpolytech.ca and on social media. You can follow us on social media.

(Feb 4) I need to know if I qualify for a student loan with the number of courses I plan to take?

There is a course calculator on saskpolytech.ca to assist in determining if students qualify for student loans based on the number of courses they plan to take.

(Feb 8) I have tried calling to register for a Continuing Education course and can’t get through. What do I do?

There are high call volumes as registration has not been available for about three months due to the cybersecurity incident. We regret the delays and ask that you keep trying.

(Feb 8) If I don’t get accepted, when will you refund the tuition I paid?

Refunds will be processed in as timely a manner as possible but may take up to 4 - 6 weeks to process.

(Feb 8) I tried to register in a course, but it is full. Will you be offering more course sections?

We are monitoring the demand and will be offering more course sections where we are able. Check saskpolytech.ca and follow us on social media. We will be sharing additional course information there.

(Feb 9) I submitted an application for student awards and haven’t heard anything. When will recipients be selected?

Saskatchewan Polytechnic has closed the Fall 2020 awards cycle and is in the process of making selections and providing payment disbursements. The fall awards include 400 scholarships totalling approximately $425,000.

Successful candidates who applied for student awards in the fall awards cycle will be notified by email by February 12, 2021.
